Built by a family, for families.
Out of Illinois, bootstrapped, and built for the household it started in — because the tools we needed didn't exist.
Joseph served in the Navy before starting a family. After years of structured service, he found himself trying to run a household that actually believed in something — and kept running out of tools to do it well. He and his wife started building Shprd because their own home needed it.
The apps that existed were either too lightweight — a shared calendar and a Bible app that don't know each other exist — or built for church administration rather than the family at home. Shprd is the thing in the middle: a tool for the household that takes both the week and the faith seriously.
It's been ground out over a year and a half of dedicated, hands-on work — bootstrapped, self-funded, and built alongside prayer and a lifetime of lessons about trying to lead a home well. Shprd isn't built to be sold or to sell you. Whatever it earns is meant to go back into the work and into the Kingdom.
Shprd is a product of Genesis Labs — an institutional builder for faith-centered software used by families, churches, and ministry leaders.
We build slowly and close to the families using it. The first pilot cohort is small on purpose — a few households walking the weekly rhythm with us, so the product grows out of real life, not feature lists.

Want to help shape the first year?
We're onboarding families who want to be part of how Shprd takes shape. If that sounds like your household, we'd love to hear from you.
